Ministy of Pleasure

The project creates a public bath-house twisted into an endless maze of sexual play and fantasies and publicized as the space for ultimate liberation; but all this indulgence is highly monitored and controlled, the project itself thus becoming an interpretation of the Roman 'bread and games', a veil on the public’s eyes.

The project stems from research of two extreme emerging social groups: Nashi, a right-wing youth political organization in Russia, and Club Antichrist, a fetishist swingers' club in London. A critical analysis of these groups and their potential conflict reveals larger social issues in contemporary society that architecture has to deal with; their spatial practices form the foundation of the project's architectural form.

The project was developed within the framework of AA Diploma Unit 5, led by Cristina Díaz Moreno and Efrén García Grinda with Tyen Masten, in the academic year 2010/11.
